After treatment, slight redness, swelling, itching and some tenderness at the site of injections may occur- this is normal, and will generally disappear over the next 24- 48 hours. When the lips have been treated, the swelling can last up to one week. Lips may appear uneven during this time.

  • Make certain you have soft, flexible, cool compresses available in the first 24hours after treatment.
  • Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hour. After this you may wash with soap and water, and make up may be applied.
  • It is important that you not exert yourself with exercise or any activity that can increase your blood pressure in the first 24 hours after treatment. This can increase the potential for swelling and bruising.
  • Needle stick may bleed slightly after treatment. You may apply an antibiotic ointment to the treated region.
  • If possible, avoid direct sunlight, wear sunscreen. Sun exposure may reduce the duration of the effect of the product.
  • Avoid creams with Alpha Hydroxy acid or Glycolic around the treated area.
  • If you suffer cold sores, there is always a risk that injections around the lips may cause a flare.
  • Patients taking asprin, clopidogrel, warfarin and other blood thinning medications should be aware that they will be more likely to have bleeding and bruising at injection sites.
